How to troubleshoot gear pumps

gear pumps are generally used in engineering machinery with unclean working environment, general machine tools with low accuracy, and hydraulic systems with low pressure and large flow

advantages of gear pump:

1) simple structure, good processability and low cost

2) compared with other pumps with the same flow, it has compact structure and small volume

3) good self-priming performance. It can reliably realize self-priming at high and low speeds and even under manual conditions

4) large speed range. Because the transmission part and gear of the pump are basically balanced, large inertia force will not be generated at high speed

5) the dirt in the oil does not seriously affect its work and is not easy to bite

disadvantages of gear pump:

1) low working pressure. The pressure on the gear, shaft and bearing of the gear pump is unbalanced, and the radial load is large, which limits the increase of its pressure. Gear pump is mainly used in medium and low pressure system

2) low volumetric efficiency. This is due to the large end leakage of the gear pump

3) large flow pulsation causes large pressure pulsation, causing vibration and noise of pipes, valves, etc
