VII. Decal printing

decal printing is a printing method that uses ordinary ink or special ink to print pictures and texts on the paper coated with adhesive layer. The commonly used adhesive layer is made of gum, which can not only prevent the ink from penetrating the paper, but also make the image on the adhesive layer paper easily transferred to other objects. In order to get the image on the offset paper, you can use any of the embossing, lithography or gravure printing methods, usually lithography offset printing method

decal printing is divided into two categories: trademark decal printing and porcelain decal printing. Trademark decal printing is printed with ordinary ink or iron printing ink. Its purpose is to stick on the surface of wood or metal appliances. Porcelain decal printing is to first print the porcelain decal paper, then paste the patterned side on the surface of porcelain and enamel utensils, and then go to the kiln. The process of decal printing is divided into three parts: paper mounting, plate making and printing

1. Paper mounting is the first process of decal printing operation, which is convenient for printing and easy to remove

the main raw materials required for paper mounting are wood papermaking, copy paper, polygonatum powder, starch, laber gum, and the tools include wooden platforms, pens, etc

paper mounting can be divided into manual paper mounting and mechanical paper mounting. Complete the tensile and other mechanical property experiments of the sample

a. manually mount the paper. First, lay the copy paper on the platform board, dip the pencil in the colloidal liquid of Polygonatum powder, and evenly coat it on the copy paper, then cover the wooden paper on the copy paper, and repeatedly brush it flat with a pencil or towel, so that there are no bubbles between the two papers. Then take it off the plate and let it dry for about half a day, then dip it with a pencil into the starch paste, and try to be even when sizing. A layer of Arabic gum is evenly coated on the dried surface of the starch (i.e. one side of the copy paper), which can be printed after drying

b. mechanical paper mounting. The copy web and wood web are respectively placed on the loading shaft of the paper mounting machine, with a glue coating roller in the middle. Through the rotation of the loading shaft and glue coating roller, alginate adhesive is applied between the copy paper and wood web, and then the two layers of paper are bonded by the flattening roller. After drying by the drying mechanism, it is transmitted to the receiving part, and then sent to the calender for gluing. After drying, it can be used for printing

2. The plate making of plate making decal printing is the same as that of general lithographic photography. Machine weight only: 70kg means that the pictures and texts on the printing plate are positive. When they are printed on adhesive tape, they are reverse. When they are transferred to the surface of the required utensils, the pictures and texts become positive

3. The paper mounted for printing is generally printed by offset lithography. Trademark decal printing because the purpose and use method of decal paper are different from general offset printing products, when printing multi-color graphics and texts, the order of chromatic registration is opposite to that of general offset lithography, that is, the color ink with good transparency is printed first, and then the color ink with strong hiding power is printed, so that after the finished product is pasted on the article, its color and luster is the same as that of general offset printing. In order not to affect the color level of the image and text when transferring the image and text to the surface of other objects due to the color transparent printing of the object itself, the white ink with low transparency must be reprinted once or twice on the last ink layer as the base color

when printing porcelain decal paper, special inks made of high temperature resistant pigments must be used to withstand high temperature calcination. High temperature pigments are mostly metal oxides, with coarse particles, different melting points and thick ink color, so they are mostly used for chromatic overprinting and are not suitable for overprint

4. The transfer method of trademark printing decal paper is relatively simple. First coat the surface of the object to be transferred with a layer of inking oil, which is almost one of the oldest art forms in the history of human civilization. After slightly drying, stick the decal paper moistened with water and other solutions on it and apply a certain amount of pressure. Then carefully remove the backing paper, and the ink layer will remain on the surface of the object, and then apply a layer of varnish to protect the text

transfer printing method of porcelain decal paper: first coat the surface of the porcelain with a layer of gelatin solution, then stick one side of the decal paper on the porcelain and press it flat, so that the surface of the decal paper with the pattern is in close contact with the surface of the porcelain. After the gelatin solution is dried, the porcelain is immersed in water, and the Arabic gum coated on the copy paper first expands and then dissolves, so that one side of the decal paper is fixed on the porcelain surface, and the other side is separated from the copy paper. Because the water solubility of gelatin is smaller than that of resin, pictures and texts containing metal oxides leave the copy paper and attach to the surface of porcelain. Remove the copy paper and wash away the residual gum on the surface of porcelain. After drying, they can be calcined in the kiln to become beautiful porcelain patterns

decal printing was originally used to decorate porcelain. Now decal printing has been widely used in industry and daily life

VIII. Braille printing

blind people cannot read printed matter with their eyes, but they have a sensitive touch feeling.
